Milngavie to Drymen

Milngavie and our start of the West Highland Way

After a full but healthy? breakfast we deposited our ongoing bags with the courier. Then day 1 of our West Highland Way walk began. The weather all day couldn't have been better, cool with the sun shining. We overtook and outpaced other walkers who were in pairs and groups on the same route. The scenery although nice hasn't blossomed into all its glory yet. At just over 7 miles we bypassed the Glengoyne Distillery (probably a good decision?) and had a well earned break at the Beach Tree benches. After a further 5 miles we reached our destination Drymen and our accommodation the Drymen Inn.

It's is 4am and my (Dave) hotel room neighbours are so inconsiderate. Their TV has been on until now. The walls must be paper thin. Now they are talking.

5am. It took a bang on the wall to shut then up. Damage done though. Little or no sleep. It's getting light. It would be a good time to start walking if breakfast had not already been paid for. It looks wet out there.

  1. Well done on your first day. Tomorrow is Conic Hill where I picked my injury up and then Balmaha, my first stop and a very pretty village on Loch Lomond. Rowardennan is nice, you must take a photo of the sculpture by the lake. Happy Days. Bob
